Gave 0.15 mLs Telazol IM ~2:15pm, applied artificial tears OU, adequate sedation to accomplish intake procedures. Basic Information:
Kion is an 8 month unaltered orange male tabby. He was brought from a pet store at 2 months of age and is being surrended because the family is moving to an apartment that does not allow pets. Kion has visited the vet and received vaccines and deworming and has no known health problems.
Socialization:
Kion is friendly with strangers in the home is reported to be gentle around adults, coming up to them for attention. Kion has been around young children, ages 3 and 5, and is affectionate, usually tolerant on them petting him, and soliates attention in the form of play. He has not been around cats or dogs so his behavior around them is unknown.
Behavior:
Kion has not bitten any person or animals. He struggles for a few minutes during his bath but will settle once he gets use to the water temperature. Kion struggles when they clip his nails and they will usually wrap him in a towel. They have never brushed Kion. Kion is not bothered if disturbed during his sleep or while beeing placed in a carrier. Kion is usually quiet on car rides but has recently started to meow. The owners mentioned he recently started to spray sround the house, specifically uinder beds, around two weeks ago. This behavior may due to the fact he is unaltered.
For a New Family to Know:
Kion is described as friendly, very affectionate, playful, and independent. He is kept indoors but will try to go outside when windows are open. He enjoys napping in and around the bathtub. He is use to a hooded litterbox with clumping clay. Kion has had access to a vertical scratching post made of carpet but is reported to scratch on couches. He is free fed dry food all day and will get wet food twice a day. He enjoys playing with toy mice and children’s toy cars.
Admissions Behavior:
During admissions, he meowed for attention and relaxed in his carrier. He hesistated coming out of the carrier but once he was out, allowed the counselor to scan, collar, and photograph. He did not want to go back to his carrier but finally entered when picked up and placed near it. He was given some wet food once inside.
