11/18/2016 BEHAVIOR EVALUATION – NH ONLY
Exam Type BEHAVIOR
As per previous owner, King has lived in a home with 3 adults and a 6 year old child and was playful with them. He lived in a home with another cat and is described as an easy going cat. When strangers come over he hisses nut still allows them to pet him. He’s very active, running through the whole house jumping on furniture and playing with his toy mouse. Reaction to assessor: King was lying down in the back of the kennel and became alert when the assessor approached. Reaction when softly spoken to: King vocalizes and grumbles with his eyes wide and focused on the assessor. Reaction to cage door opening: King remains motionless. Reaction to touch: King lip licks upon approach, shifts his weight and gets into a defensive position. His body is tense with his ears bent flat and he swats when the assessor extends his hand out. He stays at the back of the kennel, low growls and allows no contact. Behavior Determination: New Hope Only King is displaying behaviors that preclude placement in the adoptions room and/or may require further investigation before placement in a home. Hehas tried to swat, is extremely fearful in the shelter environment and does not currently tolerate petting or handling. The behavior department feels that placement with a New Hope Partner is the best option at this time.
