**SAFE 08/11/16** RARE SECOND CHANCE FOR A BEYOND PERFECT KITTY! SHOWERED WITH THE FORMER OWNER AND SLEPT IN THEIR BED, YET THAT PERSON HAD “NO TIME” FOR KIKA! Another day, another cat who was GIFTED to someone and then clearly, not valued! KIKA is only about 2 years old and her owner surrender notes make her out to be a perfect DELIGHT! But someone got her as a GIFT, so of course, when that person whimsically decided to stop being a cat owner, they had no attachment to KIKA whatsoever, and it was easy for them to toss her into the kill shelter and walk away. Where does that leave KIKA? Pinned to a stainless steel table tomorrow afternoon, frantically searching for someone to save her and wondering what the eff went so terribly wrong. Is THAT the future YOU want to see, for this cat? Because as of right this minute, that’s exactly what the future holds. If YOU want a different outcome, YOU need to step up and FOSTER or ADOPT KIKA RIGHT AWAY!

Exam Type BEHAVIOR
As per previous owners, Kika is social around strangers and often rubs up on their legs and feet. She enjoys being pet, brushed and held. Her owners describe her as having a medium activity level and enjoys running around the home chasing toys. She loves to play with balls, stuffed toys and is litter box trained. Reaction to assessor: Kika was curled up on her blanket at the back of the kennel. Reaction when softly spoken to: Kika meows softly and comes to the front of the kennel looking out at the assessor. Reaction to cage door opening: Kika retreats. Reaction to touch: Kika comes forward seeking attention with her tail at body level. She seems unsure of contact but will lean her head in slowly to get rubbed. When pet on her head she closes her eyes, tolerates petting briefly then whips around and bites the assessor’s hand. Her tail lowers, lip licks then slowly comes back to seek attention. Behavior Determination: Experience No Child Kika tolerates attention and petting but may be fearful or stressed in the shelter, and may be intimidated by small children. She may be a little more independent, and may need time to warm up to her new home. Due to the behaviors seen in the care center, we feel that this cat will do best in a calm, quiet home with experienced cat parents and without children.
