I came in the shelter as a OWNER SUR on 04/28/2017 from NY 11226, owner surrender reason stated was ALLERGIES. I came in with Group/Litter #K17-095432.

Temporary waiver for neuter surgery due to URI. Move to iso. Rx Doxycycline susp. 50 mg/ml. 1.6 ml PO q 24 hours x 10 days. Excellent prognosis.

04/28/17 14:29 Keoki is a 4 year old domestic shorthair; he was a gift from a friend whos cat had a litter at home.He has no known medical issues or injuries. Keoki is very shy around strangers and takes him days to get use to strangers. He has lived with a 9 year old and is very relaxed around her. Keoki likes to play gently with children and adults. He is use to living with 3 year old cat and they play rough. They have not bitten another person or animal. During the car ride, Keoki was crying. He does not have any known litterbox issues. He does not like having his nails trimmed, bathed or being placed in a carrier. He does enjoy having his coat brushed and being picked up. He is not bothered if he is disrupted during his sleep. He is described as a shy but friendly cat. His activity level is medium; he will play rough with the cat he lives with but sleeps most of the day. He will wait for you by the door or can be found sleeping on the couch when the owner and family arrives. Keoki likes to follow the family around when he’s hungry. He is kept indoors only. He is free fed dry food only. He is use to an open litterbox with clumping clay. He was never given a scratching post and scratcheds walls, couches, and sneakers.

Other notes: He does not like having his nails trimmed, bathed or being placed in a carrier. He does enjoy having his coat brushed and being picked up. He will wait for you by the door or can be found sleeping on the couch when the owner and family arrives. Keoki likes to follow the family around when he’s hungry. MEDICAL BEHAVIOR: Observed Behavior – He hides in the cage and hisses when approaching, does not like to be restrain EVALUATION: Cage Condition: Cage is neat Reaction to assessor: Keoki was lying down, making eye contact with the assessor. Reaction when softly spoken to: Keoki approaches the front and sniffs around. Reaction to cage door opening: Keoke becomes alert and retreats to his other kennel space. Reaction to touch: Keoki focuses on the assessor’s hand and lip licks. He seems interested and will sniff the assessor’s hand when extended slowly, but will shift away and start to grumble and whine. He allows brief touch on head before hissing and shifting away again, tail swishing from side to side. When the assessor stops the interaction, he’ll sit by the front and lie down, looking at the assessor with soft eyes. ACTIVITY LEVEL: Moderate VOCAL: Quiet CHARACTER TYPE: Shy, Curious RECOMMENDATIONS: – Experienced cat parent – Keoki tolerates attention and petting but may be fearful or stressed in the shelter. He may need time to warm up to his new home. We recommend that this cat go to a home with experienced cat parents. Due to his stress levels in the care center, we recommend any future home with children conduct a thorough interaction before adopting.
