**SAFE 06/21/16**Kamila is a 3 year old domestic short hair cat found as a stray in Staten Island. If only she could speak to tell of her life so far but for sure it hasn’t been easy. Her intake at the ACC had her meowing in her cage but once out, she wanted back in. Shelter life is scary and there is no safe place to hide. This poor girl needs experienced pet parents to shower her with love. She’s s little shy do she would probably do better as an only cat. Apply to adopt or foster this young girl with the beautiful name tonight!

06/11/2016 PET PROFILE MEMO
06/11/16 12:47 Animal’s appearance – Animal appeared of healthy weight but dirty Animal’s demeanor with you – Animal allowed all handling. I was able to transfer from carrier to den without any issues. Once in the den, animal was rubbing her head against the den and allowed petting but after a few minutes she started hissing and charging the den. Finder stated that she found 4 cats in her backyard and was not able to keep them due to her having a big dog at home. She decided to bring the cats to our facility so her dog does not hurt them.

Exam Type BEHAVIOR
Kamila came to the shelter as a stray, so we don’t have any behavioral history or tendencies in a home environment. Upon intake, Kamila was rubbing her head against the den and allowed petting but after a few minutes she started hissing and charging the den Reaction to assessor: kamila approaches the assessor, body soft and relaxed. Reaction when softly spoken to: kamila stays in the front soliciting attention and rubbing on door. Reaction to cage door opening: Kamila is soft and relaxed. Reaction to touch: Kamila solicits petting and attention for a while but then hissed at the assessor. Reaction to pick up: kamila is tolerant of this type of handling. Placement Determination: Experience No Child Kamila approaches the assessor, solicits petting and allows handling, but did show some concerning behavior by hissing at the assessor while being touched. Kamila may have some behavioral issues that will need to be addressed in the home. Due to the behaviors seen in the care center, we feel that this cat will do best in a calm, quiet home with experienced cat parents and without children.
