He was calm, relaxed and easy to handle and offered head-butts and purrs. KADABRA would love to have a magical ending to his story and be adopted to a loving home for the holdays! Hello, my name is Kadabra. My animal id is #15177. I am a desexed male gray tabby cat at the Brooklyn Animal Care Center. The shelter thinks I am about 7 years 1 weeks old. – P
I came into the shelter as a stray on 01-Dec-2017.
Kadabra is at risk due to being diagnosed with an Upper Respiratory Infection and will likely require home rest and a series of antibiotics for up to 14 days. This is a contagious illness to other cats. Kadabra is showing behavior appropriate for new or experienced cat parents.

[DVM Intake] DVM Intake Exam Estimated age: 7 yo Microchip noted on Intake? neg History : Stray – found wandering hall for 2 weeks. Subjective: BAR. 5% dehydrated Observed Behavior – Easy to handle Evidence of Cruelty seen -n Evidence of Trauma seen -n Objective T = P =180 R =eup BCS= 4/9 EENT: Eyes clear, ears clean, no nasal or ocular discharge noted Oral Exam: Mod- marked tartar and gingivitis left side with slight whit e d/c L maxillary teeth, possibly painful – resists exam on that side. Mod ddz R side. PLN: No enlargements noted H/L: NSR, NMA, CRT < 2, Lungs clear, eupnic ABD: Non painful, no masses palpated. Very firm feces in colon – r/o constipated. U/G: male – 2 scrotal testicles. Small bladder. Kidneys – slightly small but symmetric. MSI: Ambulatory x 4, skin free of parasites, no masses noted, healthy hair coat CNS: Mentation appropriate – no signs of neurologic abnormalities Rectal: Assessment: Mild dehydration. Ddz – mod- marked. Constipation? Prognosis: Fair Plan: 1) SQF 150 cc. 2) Buprenex 0.37 cc SQ – for dental pain. 3) Urine cysto – urine yellow and cloudy – SpGr= 1.065 (no renal dz). Dipstick- prot 500, leuk +, no gluc, no blood. 4) Monitor in medical for eating, defecation. 5) Re-check VC tomorrow – hydration, etc. Do not schedule for sx tomorrow and release. Re-assess tomorrow. SURGERY: Temporary waiver due to dehydration.
Progress exam History : Stray intake 12/4-given SQ LRS for dehydration and buprenex for dental pain. Urine cysto – urine yellow and cloudy – SpGr= 1.065 (no renal dz). Dipstick- prot 500, leuk +, no gluc, no blood. Subjective: BARH. No c/s/v/d. Eating canned food and has normal bm and u in litter box. Objective P =wnl R =eup BCS= 5/9 EENT: Eyes clear, ears clean, no nasal or ocular discharge noted Oral Exam: limited oral exam due to uncomfortable mouth PLN: No enlargements noted H/L: gallop rhythm, NMA, CRT < 2, Lungs clear, eupneic ABD: Non painful, no masses palpated U/G: MI MSI: Ambulatory x 4, skin free of parasites, no masses noted, healthy hair coat CNS: Mentation appropriate – no signs of neurologic abnormalities Assessment: Dental disease Gallop rhythm Hx Dehydration-resolved Prognosis: Good Plan: CBC tomorrow Chem tomorrow +/- start abx for pyuria tomorrow depending on bloodwork Recheck bloodwork and gallop rhythm tomorrow +/- schedule for surgery

Active, attention seeking, allows all handling, purring throughout exam, ate well overnight EENT: Eyes clear, no ocular or nasal discharge, pink mm, moderate dental staining, mild gingival recession HL: No murmurs or arrhythmias appreciated, normal heart beat with intermittent purring, clear lung sounds ABD: Soft INTEG: WNL MS: Ambulatory x 4 UG: Male A: No concerns on exam P: OK for neuter tomorrow. Blood work pending
URI noted on rounds S/O: QAR (quieter than usual). Eating well EENT: Eyes clear, mild crusted nasal discharge HL: Normal RR/RE, large number of sneeze marks in cage, sneezing reported by ACS INTEG: WNL MS: Ambulatory x 4 A: URI P: Rec doxycycline 0.9ml PO q24 x 10 days. Excellent prognosis

KNOWN HISTORY:: Kadabra was brought in as a stray, so there is no information on their behavior history or tendencies in a home environment. He was shy around staff initially, but warmed up after a few minutes. He allowed all handling to be conducted during intake.
