***SAFE 12/16/17***KIND & GENTLE GAL NEEDS FUREVER FRIEND! Julie has an old injury to her tail that doesn’t appear to need any follow up medical care, but she does have significant dental disease in her remaining teeth. She will most likely need dental extractions, and she would be happiest in an experienced, adult-only home where she can adjust and explore at her own pace. This girl would love to be adopted and have a home of her own for the holidays…BE HER HERO BY RESERVING BY NOON TOMORROW!!!
BROOKLYN CENTER

Julie was placed at risk due to behavior, she is very scare here at the shelter and will benefit from placement outside as soon as possible. Julie would do better in a adult only home.

Details on my behavior are…
Behavior Condition: 3. Yellow
KNOWN HISTORY:: Julie was brought in as a stray, so there is no information on their behavior history or tendencies in a home environment.
MEDICAL BEHAVIOR:: Observed Behavior – needed to be sedated for full examination
Cage Condition:: Cage is neat
Reaction to assessor:: Julie was lying down by the back and appeared neutral.
Reaction when softly spoken to:: Julie lowers her gaze and blinks softly, lip licking.
Reaction to cage door opening:: Julie sits up and backs away slightly, tense.
Reaction to touch:: Julie hisses and wraps her tail around her body. She sniffs the assessor’s hand when extended, but shifts away and hisses to avoid touch. She allows gentle touch when approached very slowly, but curls up by the corner and appears uncomfortable.
ACTIVITY LEVEL:: Mellow
VOCAL:: Quiet
CHARACTER TYPE: : Shy ,Timid,Independent
POTENTIAL CHALLENGES:: Fearful
Potential challenges comments:: Julie has displayed fearful behavior during their stay in the care center and has displayed distance-increasing behavior with extended handling. Fear aggression can occur when a cat perceives a threat and may escalate if they cannot escape. A fearful cat will feel more relaxed when given options, so provide her with the chance to move closer, investigate, or interact with you. Be sure to offer incentive such as treats or play time whenever the cat makes a small positive step. Please speak to an adoption counselor for additional information on methods to desensitize your cat to their fear stimulus.
BEHAVIOR DETERMINATION: : Experienced, adult only
Behavior Asilomar: TM – Treatable-Manageable
BEHAVIOR SUMMARY:: Julie tolerates attention and petting but may be fearful or stressed in the shelter, and may be intimidated by small children. She may be a little more independent, and may need time to warm up to her new home. Due to the behaviors seen in the care center, we feel that this cat will do best in an experienced, adult only home.
