I came in the shelter as a OWNER SUR on 07/29/2017 from NY 11694, owner surrender reason stated was TOO MANY P. I came in with Group/Litter #K17-105787.

Jude A1120231 is at risk due to behavior. Jude displays fearful behaviors in the shelter environment and presses her body against the wall when approached for interactions. She accepts gentle petting with a slow approach, but tries to shift away and looks very uncomfortable. She does not appear to be thriving in this environment.

KNOWN HISTORY: Previously lived with: 1 Adult Behavior toward strangers: Friendly with most people Behavior toward children: Unknown Behavior toward cats: Lived with other cats and got along well with them Behavior toward dogs: Unknown Bite or Scratch history: None Litter box training: Yes Other notes: She enjoys being pet MEDICAL BEHAVIOR: Allowed handling but repeatedly tried to flee. ENRICHMENT NOTES: 07/30/17 Lying in cubby behind litterbox. Backs away as I reach forward and tolerates petting along head and body while trying to lean away from my hand, eyes squinted closed and ears tilted. Needs more time to adjust. Sprayed feliway. 08/01/17 Sitting in back of kennel perch with a tense body. She doesn’t respond when I place treats in front of her – not interested in them today. Backs away with squinted eyes as I reach towards her and tolerates gentle petting along her head with a tense body, arms stiff as she tries to back away and retreat. Tail is wrapped around body. Nervous – needs more time to adjust. 08/02/17 Crouched on top her perch; watches with wide eyes & ears tilted forward. Alert, paws folded, tail wrapped around her body. Remains motionless when the door opens. She squints and leans away when the assessor approaches her. Tense, stiff body- tolerates touch. She rises up and presses her body against the back of the cage. Lip licks and seems very uncomfortable. ACTIVITY LEVEL: Laid back VOCAL: Quiet CHARACTER TYPE: Timid RECOMMENDATIONS: Experienced, adult home only – Jude tolerates attention and petting but may be fearful or stressed in the shelter, and may be intimidated by small children. She may be a little more independent, and may need time to warm up to her new home. Due to the behaviors seen in the care center, we feel that this cat will do best in an experienced, adult only home.
