***SAFE 05/12/17 *** RETURN!! Jubaleen and housemate were brought in earlier this month and reclaimed by their owner on 4/19. Jubaleen was then abandoned at a police station and is now back at the ACC – not a very happy kitty and needs a patient and kind purrson to adopt him to a furever home where he will not be abandoned again!

04/29/2017 PET PROFILE MEMO
04/29/2017 09:06 Jubaleen A1107960 is a 2yr old spayed female orange tabby & white DMH feline that was abandoned at a train station depot in the Bronx last night. Transit police had no information on her behavior as they brought her into the BXAC in the carrier she was left in. During intake Jubaleen allowed to be removed from the carrier, scanned (+) and have her pictures taken; she even solicited attention/affection for a couple of minutes as I was taking her pictures. I had to place Jubaleen into her kennel (which she didn’t seem to mind) to make her collar and once I returned to place it on her Jubaleen was tense, hissing and growling. Due to these behaviors I was unable to collar her; however Jubaleen did allow me to give her food which she ate eagerly.

05/07/2017 BEHAVIOR EVALUATION – EXPNOCHILD
Exam Type BEHAVIOR
KNOWN HISTORY: Jubaleen was brought in with limited information on her behavior in her previous home. She was brought in before due to getting into an altercation with the other resident cat in her previous home. She was very nervous and fearful during her first stay in the care center. However, she solicited attention from the counselors during intake and allowed some handling. She became tense and started hissing and growling when trying to collar her, though. MEDICAL BEHAVIOR: Observed Behavior – sternal in feral den, growling when approached, hind limbs covered in urine, formed feces noted in feral den. Eating very well when offered canned diet in den. Attempted exam in Freeman net, patient was growling vocalizing and trying to scratch and bite through the net. Limited exam performed EVALUATION: Cage Condition: Cage is neat Reaction to assessor: Jubaleen meows softly upon approach and is calm by the front of her kennel. Reaction when softly spoken to: Jubaleen looks at the assessor with soft eyes and meows again. Reaction to cage door opening: Jabaleen rushes to the opening and pokes her head through the opening in an attempt to explore outside her kennel. Reaction to touch: Jubaleen lowers her head and accepts petting on her head, but her ears tilt sideways. She tolerates gentle stroke along her back, but will flip her head back and look at the assessor’s hand. When stroked along her back, she pats the hand away gently and attempts to nip. ACTIVITY LEVEL: Moderate VOCAL: Somewhat chatty CHARACTER TYPE: Curious, Sweet RECOMMENDATIONS: – Experienced, adult home only – Jubaleen tolerates attention and petting but may be fearful stressed in the shelter and may be uncomfortable with touch on certain areas of her body. She may be a little more independent, and may need time to warm up to her new home. Due to the behaviors seen in the care center, we feel that this cat will do best in an experienced, adult only home.
