***SAFE 10/24/17*** WANT A LAID BACK QUIETY KITTY – LOOK NO FURTHER THAN JOSH!! Josh is social and affectionate with his caretakers in the shelter but the atmosphere there seems to be stressing him out and the shelter wants him out now! This sweet senior was dumped for “no time” by his owner. He needs a new furever home where he is wanted. Josh has a mild URI, dental disease and a heart murmur. Follow up vet care is needed. Hello, my name is Josh. My animal id is #7748. I am a desexed male gray tabby cat at the Manhattan Animal Care Center. The shelter thinks I am about 9 years 2 weeks old. – P
I came into the shelter as a data import – incoming on 01-Oct-2017.
Josh is at risk due to behavior deterioration in care center.
Josh 7748 is at risk for behavior concerns in the care center (Average determination). He is social and affectionate with his caretakers and appreciates attention, but seems overwhelmed in the shelter environment and we are concerned about his stress levels. Medically, Josh is overweight and has a low-grade, non-clinical heart murmur.

Dx with URI, conjunctivitis and low grade heart murmur on intake, last dose of doxycycline was on 10/9; recheck to clear S/O QAR, resting comfortably in back of kennel moderate appetite with dry food no nasal discharge or sneezing OU-open and clear appears eupnic, grade 2/6 murmur noted on intake BCS 7/9 A URI-appears resolved Heart murmur-noted on intake, low grade, not clinical Overweight P okay to move from isolation rec’d weight loss

ENRICHMENT NOTES:: Resting on bedding towards back, soft posture, a little wide-eyed. Lay in place when door opened. Allowed all pets, initially seemed disinterested. He will sniff the assessor’s hand when extended, but will retreat from contact and hiss to avoid petting. He emits a stressed meow afterwards and crouches over. He may need time to acclimate to his new home and family. Due to his current behavior, we recommend he goes to a home with experienced cat parents. ,Josh interacts with the observer, appreciates attention, is easy to handle and tolerates all petting. This cat is showing behavior appropriate for new or experienced cat parents. **UPDATE 10/17/17** Josh has been in the shelter for a little less than a month and initially appreciated attention, however he currently seems to be deteriorating in the shelter environment. He may need some time to warm up to his new home and family.
