History : finder stated kitten was abandoned after owner was arrester; finder also stated that the owner’s roommate may have thrown the kitten; suspect broken hind limb; given 0.18 ml simbadol last night on presentation
Subjective:BAR
Observed Behavior -affectionate and adorable;
Evidence of Cruelty seen –
Evidence of Trauma seen – non weight bearing on RH
Objective
BCS 5/9
EENT: Eyes clear, ears clean, no nasal or ocular discharge noted; small abrasion along distal aspect of bridge of nose
Oral Exam:mm pk, sl tacky; CRT <2 sec
PLN: No enlargements noted
H/L: NSR, NMA, CRT < 2, Lungs clear, eupnic
ABD: soft, nonpainful on palpation with no abnormalities
U/G: female
MSI:
RH-non weight bearing on RH, crepitus palpable along distal femur
CNS: Mentation appropriate – no signs of neurologic abnormalities
Rectal: grossly normal
Assessment
1. RH Salter-Harris fracture of distal femur
Prognosis: good with surgery
Plan:
-continue simbadol 0.2 ml SQ SID until placement
-onsior 0.14 ml SQ SID x 3 days
-consider amputation after placement due to involvement of growth plate; surgical stabilization of limb could be considered but may have increased risk of long term complications due to growth plate involvement
SURGERY:temporary waiver due to femoral fx
