11/16/2016 BEHAVIOR EVALUATION – NH ONLY
Exam Type BEHAVIOR
Joey was brought in as a stray, so we cannot speak to his behavior in his previous home. Reaction to assessor: Joey was hiding in his feral den at the back of the kennel. Reaction when softly spoken to: Joey remains motionless and doesn’t make eye contact or come forward when coaxed. Reaction to cage door opening: Joey remains motionless. Reaction to touch: Joey looks around frantically with wide eyes when the assessor approaches. He lip licks then quickly rushes forward trying to escape when the assessor extends his hand forward. His body is tense, his ears bend flat and he currently allows no contact. Behavior Determination: New Hope Only Joey is displaying behaviors that preclude placement in the adoptions room and/or may require further investigation before placement in a home. He is extremely fearful in the shelter environment and does not currently tolerate petting or handling. The behavior department feels that placement with a New Hope Partner is the best option at this time.
