Hello, my name is Joey. My animal id is #19798. I am a desexed male black cat at the Manhattan Animal Care Center. The shelter thinks I am about 9 years old. – P
I came into the shelter as a owner surrender on 02-Feb-2018, with the surrender reason stated as person circumstance- moving – no pets allowed.
Original Location: 11225
Joey is at risk for medical reasons, having been diagnosed with an Upper Respiratory Infection, which is contagious to other cats. Behaviorally, we have no concerns for Joey, whom we believe would be suitable even for beginner cat homes.

Upon intake, joey allowed counselor to collar and pet. He allowed counselor to pick him up and take his picture. He walked into the carrier willingly.
Date of Intake: 2/2/2018
Basic Information:: Joey is a 8 year old, neutered, domestic shorthair cat. Previous owner got him from ACC when he was 3 years old and has had him ever since. Owner can no longer keep due to living somewhere that does not allow pets. Joey has no known health issues and was last at the vet last year for vaccines.
How is this cat around strangers?: Joey is a friendly and outgoing and plays gently with adults.
How is this cat around children?: Joey has spent time around children age 11 years old. He is relaxed and affectionate with them and plays gently.
How is this cat around other cats?: Joey has never spent time with other cats. Behavior is unknown.
How is this cat around dogs?: Joey has never spent time with other dogs. Behavior is unknown.
Behavior Notes: Joey has no behavior issues. He is relaxed in car rides. Joey will struggle during baths and getting his nails trimmed. He enjoys being brushed and isn’t bothered when picked up and held, put in carrier and disturbed while sleeping.

For a New Family to Know: Joey is friendly, affectionate, playful, cat. he has a medium activity level and will follow you around or be in the same room as you when you are home. He enjoys playing with string toys and laser pointers and is indoors only. He sleeps wherever he is comfortable and eats friskies wet and dry food. He is litter box trained and uses an uncovered litter box with clumping litter. He uses a carpet scratching post.
