JIGSAW – A1073586
Safe - 6-12-2016 Brooklyn
***SAFE 06/12/16***Thirteen was an unlucky number for JIGSAW, a beautiful 12-month-old kitten who entered the ACC as a stray on May 13th. Her initial medical notes show a sociable, friendly girl, but after a few days in the shelter she was acting more timid. The poor girl would have been exposed to so much horror and stress by then, but this GOOD girl still rallied enough to earn a nice EXPNOCHILD rating from the ACC. She needs a place to decompress and loving arms around her, which can be found in a foster/adoptive home. Please advocate strongly for JIGSAW, tonight!

WEB MEMO
A volunteer writes: Jigsaw is a shy, timid little lady. The shelter is a bit overwhelming for her and she tends to stay in the back of her cage. So, I approached her very slowly and quietly. I started to gently pet her and soon after she came up to the front of her cage for some more attention. I think this little one will blossom once she has the love and security of a forever home. She is a real sweetie!
05/17/2016 BEHAVIOR EVALUATION – EXPNOCHILD
Exam Type BEHAVIOR
Reaction to assessor: Jigsaw does not come to front but remains neutral When spoken quietly: Jigsaw does not come to front but remains neutral Reaction to door cage opening: Jigsaw remains motionless Reaction to touch: Jigsaw allows petting and starts to head butt. Jigsaw becomes very affectionate and starts to become overstimulated then gently bites or the assessor’s hand Try picking cat up: Jigsaw is tolerant of this type of handling. Jigsaw is social and affectionate but appears to be easily overstimulated. As a result of this observed behavior we recommend adopters who are familiar with signs of behavioral arousal and agitation in cats, so that interactions can be ended before Jigsaw becomes overstimulated. We also recommend fishing pole-type toys for play as they allow for interaction and vigorous, stimulating exercise while keeping human hands at a distance. Behavior Determination: Experience No Child Jigsaw was brought to the care center as a stray so we don’t have any behavioral history or tendencies previous to what we are seeing during the evaluation. At the time of the assessment she was displaying timid behavior; does not seek attention from the assessor and becomes alert when the kennel was open. Remains motionless as I started to get closer. Once i started to pet her she became very affectionate. Over time she becomes overstimulated and starts to gently bite hand. We recommend that this cat go to a home with experienced cat parents and without children.
