Jet is a nine year old kind and gentle boy who sadly lost his home with three other feline family members due to the “too many pets excuse.” Jet is a hunky 14.9 lbs., already neutered and a low maintenance sweet fella who just needs a kind purrson, a comfy couch and some good food. Please don’t overlook this fab fella–there’s a whole lot of his affectionate self to love. 09/10/16 20:23 Basic Information Jet is an 9 year old neutered domestic shorthair who is being surrendered because owner has too many cats. Owner had him for a year. Owner stated he has no medical issues but has never seen a vet. Socialization Jet is friendly around strangers. He has never lived or spent any time with kids. Jet is very touchy feely. He plays in a gentle manner with adults. He lived with an 11 year old male cat, a 10 year old male cat, and an 8 year old female cat. They tolerated each other and were respectful towards each other. They did not play. He has never lived or been around any other kind of animal. He has never bitten or scratched a person or animal. Behavior Owner stated Jet has no behavior issues and was relaxed during the car ride to our shelter. Owner has never bathed Dukes. He is not bothered by having his nails trimmed, being brushed, picked up, or if disturbed while sleeping. He will struggle and try to get away when placed in a carrier. For a New Family to Know Dukes is described as friendly, affectionate, and mellow with a medium activity level. He likes to follow his owner around when home. He likes to play with mouse toys and balls. He is kept indoors only and sleeps in his cat condo. He was fed dry and wet food. One can of Simply Nourish wet food once a day and the dry food was left out. He uses an uncovered cat litter box with Fresh Step Extreme cat litter. He used his cat condo to scratch on. The cat condo was made out of carpet. Behavior during Intake Jet tolerated all handling during intake but was attempting to flee. He was very in tuned to every sound in the admissions office. He did not show any signs of aggression during intake.

He has never lived or been around any other kind of animal. He has never bitten or scratched a person or animal. Reaction to assessor: Jet stares at the assessor with wide, dilated eyes, and does not move. Reaction when softly spoken to: Jet continues to stare at the assessor with wide, dilated eyes, and does not move. Reaction to cage door opening: Jet remains motionless and does not respond. Reaction to touch: Jet remains immobile when pet. Behavior Determination: Experienced Jet tolerates attention and petting but may be fearful or stressed in the shelter. We recommend that this cat go to a home with experienced cat parents.
