Exam Type BEHAVIOR
KNOWN HISTORY: Jessie was brought in as a stray, so we cannot speak to his behavior in his previous home. MEDICAL BEHAVIOR: Hissing, growling, and lunging at front of feral den. ENRICHMENT NOTES: 05/11/17 Has been placed in a feral den in medical. Doesn’t want to/is un able to come out at the moment. Will check on him again. EVALUATION: Cage Condition: Cage is slightly re-arranged Reaction to assessor: Jessie was hiding in his feral den at the back of the kennel. Reaction when softly spoken to: Jessie doesn’t respond when coaxed and remains in his den. Reaction to cage door opening: Jessie remains motionless. Reaction to touch: Jessie hisses and strikes when the assessor touched the den. He growls and displays distance increasing behaviors when attempting to make contact. ACTIVITY LEVEL: Laid back VOCAL: Quiet CHARACTER TYPE: Skittish RECOMMENDATIONS: Placement with a New Hope partner – Jessie is displaying behaviors that preclude placement in the adoptions room and/or may require further investigation before placement in a home. He has tried to swat, scratch and does not currently tolerate petting or handling. The behavior department feels that placement with a New Hope Partner is the best option at this time.
