Safe - 2-17-2016 Brooklyn Rescue: Staten Island Hope Please honor your pledges: http://www.statenislandhoperescue.org/
**SAFE 02/17/16** HOARDING! That’s the surrender reason for beautiful OXFORD, FRIDAY and JESSIE, three cats who desperately need a foster/adopters tonight! All three are spay/neutered and all are microchipped, which is kind of unusual for people who stack cats into their home the way lumberjacks stack cords of wood. The transition from hoarding situation to the ACC “jail” has been stressful for these innocent cats, so please read their biographies to learn the story of each cat. JESSIE can only be pulled to safety by a NEW HOPE rescue, while OXFORD and FRIDAY are available to the general public. Please email [email protected] with foster/adoption questions and SAVE JESSIE, OXFORD and FRIDAY tonight!

02/09/2016 BEHAVIOR EVALUATION – NH ONLY
Exam Type BEHAVIOR
Our enrichment facilitator has interacted with Jessie and at the time she was att the back, very tense. Arched back. Slow blinks. Hisses on approach. Avoids contact. Tail tucked under body. Reaction to assessor: Jessie watches the assessor from the back of the cage with wide eyes When spoken quietly: Jessie watches the assessor from the back of the cage with wide eyes Reaction to door cage opening: Jessie remains motionless Reaction to touch: Jessie does not allow petting Try picking cat up: Did not attempt Behavior Determination: New Hope Jessie seems to not be thriving in this environment. At the time of the assessment Jessie was displaying behaviors that preclude placement in the adoptions room and may require further investigation before placement in a home. He is extremely fearful and currently does not tolerate petting or handling. The behavior department feels that placement with a New Hope Partner is the best option at this time.
