Behavior
Jerry was brought in as a stray, so we cannot speak to her behavior in her previous home. She attempted to flee upon intake and allowed little handling due to fear. She allowed all handling during her initial medical exam, however.
Reaction to assessor: Jerry tries to hide behind her litter box upon approach.
Reaction when softly spoken to: Jerry lowers her head and continues to hide.
Reaction to cage door opening: Jerry remains motionless.
Reaction to touch: Jerry tries to avoid touch and shifts away. She will allow petting when approached slowly, lower her entire body, and lip lick. She warms up a little when pet on her cheeks, but will blink and lip lick throughout the interaction.
Reaction to being picked up: Jerry remains soft and allows handling. She calmly jumps back into the cage and retreats to the back.
Behavior Determination: Experience No Child
Jerry tolerates attention and petting but may be fearful or stressed in the shelter, and may be intimidated by small children. She may be a little more independent, and may need time to warm up to her new home. Due to the behaviors seen in the care center, we feel that this cat will do best in a calm, quiet home with experienced cat parents and without children.
