KNOWN HISTORY: Jean Grey was brought in as a stray, so there is no information on his behavior in his previous home. He was vocal during the intake process and attempted to flee when his carrier door was opened. He ate when offered food, but had dilated eyes and kept observing his surroundings. MEDICAL BEHAVIOR: Observed Behavior – Scared, tense. EVALUATION: Cage Condition: Cage is neat Reaction to assessor: Jean Grey was lying down in his cubby, calm and relaxed. Reaction when softly spoken to: Jean Grey looks at the assessor with soft eyes, but remains in place. Reaction to cage door opening: Jean Grey becomes alert, but remains calm. Reaction to touch: Jean Grey sniffs the assessor’s hand and accepts gentle petting, but will flip his head back when touched along his back. He allows gentle strokes and approaches the front to investigate his surroundings. He becomes tense and starts huffing and puffing when looking around. Reaction to pick up: Jean Grey is tense during pick up and struggles to get back into his kennel. ACTIVITY LEVEL: Moderate VOCAL: Quiet CHARACTER TYPE: Timid, Curious RECOMMENDATIONS: – Experienced cat parents – Jean Grey tolerates attention and petting but may be fearful or stressed in the shelter. He may be a little more independent, and may need time to warm up to his new home and family. We recommend that this cat go to a home with experienced cat parents.
