Safe - 6-22-2016 Brooklyn Rescue: Feline Rescue of SI Please honor your pledges: http://felinerescueofstatenisland.org/donation/
***SAFE 06/22/16***Jean has been fighting for her life since she was found. She has been in defense mode and will not let anyone go near her. She figures if she hides in the back of her cage and doesn’t react, she will be fine. Sadly, we all know that is not true. In fact, her behavior has out her in grave danger. ACC LOVES unruly animals. So instead of trying to work with them to get thenm to a point where they are not shut down or scared so they can find a home, they throw them on the Euth list. Jean has alot of competition tonight and will need all the help she can get. Without it, she will surely die. Help this girl see another day and be the amazing cat she can be. Share her now before it is too late.

Exam Type BEHAVIOR
Jean was brought in as a stray, so we cannot speak to her behavior in her previous home. The finder reports she would not let anyone go near it. During her initial medical exam, she appeared very fearful and hissed. Reaction to Assessor: Jean was inside a hidey den upon approach. Reaction when softly spoken to: Jean does not respond. Reaction to cage door opening: Jean remains inside of her den. Reaction to touch: Jean was hesitant of petting and squeezes to the back of her den. She hisses when pet on her head, but remains immobile and allows stroke on the rest of her body while blinking and lip licking. Placement Determination: Experience No Child Jean tolerates attention and petting but may be fearful or stressed in the shelter, and may be intimidated by small children. She may need time to warm up to her new home. Due to the behaviors seen in the care center, we feel that this cat will do best in a calm, quiet home with experienced cat parents and without children.
