I am a spayed female org tabby and white domestic sh mix. The shelter thinks I am about 6 YEARS old.
I came in the shelter as a OWNER SUR on 11/25/2016 from NY 11207, owner surrender reason stated was HOUSE SOIL.

11/25/16 15:54 Jasmine is a six year old female orange tabby and white. She was surrendered due to house soiling. Owner stated Jasmine has been urinating and defecating outside the litterbox for a few weeks, she was not taken to the vet for this issue. Jasmine was given to owner by a family friend. Jasmine has lived with has lived with two adults and a nine year old child. She is described as shy around strangers and takes a few minutes to warm up to new people. Jasmine has not been around other cats or dogs. Jasmine does not like to be held or groomed. Owner stated she will scratch and bite if she is bathed or picked up. She has never broken skin. Jasmine is not bothered when placed in a carrier and will walk right in. Jasmine is described as an independent and mellow cat. She likes to lie in her favorite spot, the windowsill and watch the people pass. She has been kept only indoors. Jasmine eats dry brand Nine Lives and is fed twice a day. She loves tuna as a treat. Jasmine is mostly litterbox trained and used a hooded litterbox. She was not provided a scratching post and would claw at the leather couch. Upon intake Jasmine was relaxed and meowed when counselor approached the carrier. Counselor was able to scan (negative), lift from the carrier and place on the counter for photos. Jasmine was collared and allowed all handling.

11/28/2016 BEHAVIOR EVALUATION – AVERAGE

Jasmine’s previous owner reports she has lived with two adults and one child. She can be shy around strangers and takes a few minutes to warm up to new people. She was described as an independent and mellow cat. She likes to lie in her favorite spot and watch people pass. Reaction to assessor: Jasmine was resting upon approach. Reaction when softly spoken to: Jasmine turns to face the assessor, calm and relaxed. Reaction to cage door opening: Jasmine remains soft and relaxed. Reaction to touch: Jasmine sniffs the assessor’s hand and accepts petting on her head and body. She leans in for cheek rubs, approaches the front, begins to purr, and continues to rub her cheeks against the assessor. Reaction to pick up: Jasmine remains calm during pick up and when held. Jasmine’s previous owner reports she has been urinating and defecating outside her litter box for the past few weeks. She was provided with a hooded litter box, but the owner has not taken her to the vet for this issue. We are unaware if any modifications steps were taken to try and address this behavior in the home, so we cannot be sure what the trigger may have been or if this behavior may continue in a future home. However, we recommend that potential adopters be comfortable with management and modification techniques for elimination outside the litterbox should this behavior continue in a home environment. Behavior Determination: Average Jasmine interacts with the observer, appreciates attention, is easy to handle and tolerates all petting. This cat is showing behavior appropriate for cat parents with an average amount of experience.
