***SAFE 08/24/16***JANIERO is a handsome brown male tabby cat. He’s around 4 years old and was brought into the shelter as a stray. He may have been someone’s pet at some point, but lately he’s been wandering the streets in search of food. JANIERO isn’t sure what he’s doing at the shelter and he’s not too happy about it. But now JANIERO needs to be rescued or he will sadly be killed at the shelter. JANIERO enjoyed being pet but he wasn’t happy about having a collar put on him, and he began to hiss. Because he’s afraid at the shelter, the staff suggests that he be rescued through New Hope Rescue. If you’d like to foster these HANDSOME BROWN TABBY and make him your best pal, PLEASE CONTACT [email protected] JANIERO is a sensitive scared guy and he desperately needs your help tonight! Please rescue JANIERO!!!

08/21/2016 BEHAVIOR EVALUATION – NH ONLY
Exam Type BEHAVIOR
Reaction to assessor: Janiero does not come to front but remains neutral When spoken quietly: Janiero leans in to sniff the assessor Reaction to door cage opening: Janiero hisses at the assessor Reaction to touch: Janiero tries to flee and does not allow petting Try picking cat up: Did not attempt Behavior Determination: NewHope Janiero was brought to the care center as a stray so we don’t have any behavioral history or tendencies previous to what we are seeing during the evaluation. Janiero seems to not be thriving in this environment and at the time of the assessment he was displaying behaviors that preclude placement in the adoptions room. Janiero may require further investigation before placement in a home. He has tried to flee and extremely fearful. He currently does not tolerate petting or handling. The behavior department feels that placement with a New Hope Partner is the best option at this time.
