09/14/2016 BEHAVIOR EVALUATION – AVERAGE
Exam Type BEHAVIOR
Jaden was brought in as a stray, so we cannot speak to his behavior in his previous home. He was fearful upon intake and stayed by the back of his carrier, trying to hide when handling was attempted. He attempted to flee from restraint during his initial medical exam, but was not aggressive. Reaction to assessor: Jaden was calm and relaxed upon approach. Reaction when softly spoken to: Jaden becomes alert for a second, but his eyes soften afterwards and blinks. Reaction to cage door opening: Jaden’s eyes widen a little. Reaction to touch: Jaden sniffs the assessor’s hand and accepts petting, warming up quickly. He starts to knead, arches his back, and leans in for cheek rubs. He is very affectionate during the interaction, but does become alert and looks around with sudden noise. Reaction to pick up: Jaden remains calm and nuzzles against the assessor. Behavior Determination: Average Jaden interacts with the observer, appreciates attention, is easy to handle and tolerates all petting. This cat is showing behavior appropriate for new or experienced cat parents.
