11/06/2016 PET PROFILE MEMO
11/06/16 20:11 BASIC INFO Jade is a 10 year old female DSH cat. Her owner began fostering her to rehome her 3 years ago. She surrendered her with 3 other cats because their owner is moving to a new home and had too many pets. SOCIALIZATION Jade is friendly/outgoing with new people. She is tolerant with the 3 children in the home, ages 2-9. She plays gently with people. She lived with 6 other cats, male and female. They jump on and swat at her and prevent her from accessing food and the litterbox. Jade mostly hides in the kitchen cabinet. She eats and potties there. Small and large dogs lived in the home and she hid from them as well. Jade hasn’t bit/scratched anyone. BEHAVIOR Jade is tense but tolerant during baths and nail trims. She doesn’t mind being brushed or woken up. She sometimes becomes tense when picked up/held. FOR A NEW FAMILY TO KNOW Jade’s family describes her as friendly, affectionate, quiet, and low energy. When other cats aren’t around, she follows her family and sits in their laps. She played with string, stuffed toys, and catnip toys. She lived inside. She ate dry Purina indoor and wet Friskies cat foods. She was using uncovered and hooded litterboxes with clumping litter in the past, but since the other cats were attacking her, she stays in the cabinet and potties there. Jade scratched a carpet and rope-covered scratching post and only scratched the couch and chairs when she didn’t have the post. INTAKE Jade tried to walk to the corner of the counter while I pet her, collared her, photographed her, picked her up, and placed her in a carrier. She didn’t resist or vocalize.

11/08/2016 BEHAVIOR EVALUATION – EXPNOCHILD
Exam Type BEHAVIOR
Jade’s former owner stated she is friendly/outgoing with new people. She is tolerant with the 3 children in the home, ages 2-9. She plays gently with people. She lived with 6 other cats, male and female. Small and large dogs lived in the home and she hid from them as well. Reaction to assessor: Jade looks neutral, crouched position on her cage bedding when approached by the assessor. Reaction to door opening: Jade remains immobile in place, alert with normal shape eyes. Reaction to touch: Jade accepts the stroke on the head, but along the body she began to growl and attempts to nip the assessor’s hand, but doesn’t. Placement determination: Experience / no child Jade tolerates attention and petting but may be fearful or stressed in the shelter, and may be intimidated by small children. Due to the behaviors seen in the care center, we feel that this cat will do best in a calm, quiet home with experienced cat parents and without children.
