***SAFE 06/14/16*** GOOGLE and INSTAGRAM are so much more than popular online sites—they are the names of two KITTENS who need rescue heroes, tonight! Brought to the ACC with their friend, Linkin, these pretty tabbies are terrified of the ACC. Instagram is guesstimated to be 8 months old and PREGNANT, Google is guesstimated to be about a year old, and BOTH kittens need help from a NEW HOPE rescue to live beyond lunchtime, tomorrow! Please advocate strongly for both of these tabby treasures, tonight!

06/09/2016 BEHAVIOR EVALUATION – EXPNOCHILD
Exam Type BEHAVIOR
Instagram was brought in as stray, so we cannot speak to her behavior in her previous home. She allowed handling upon intake, but hissed when picked up. She hissed when approached for her initial medical exam and resisted handling. The enrichment facilitator reports she stays by the back of her cage and has wide eyes, focusing on all movements. She comes forward slowly when offered food, but doesn’t allow contact and appears very stressed. Reaction to assessor: Instagram was lying down by the back, calm and relaxed. Reaction when softly spoken to: Instagram looks at the assessor, shifts into a comfier position, and blinks. Reaction to cage door opening: Instagram becomes alert and starts breathing rapidly. Reaction to touch: Instagram hisses initially, but pokes her head forward to sniff the assessor’s hand. She wraps her tail around her body and her ears tilt sideways, but she allows gentle petting and blinks after. Placement Determination: Experience No Child Instagram tolerates attention and petting but may be fearful or stressed in the shelter, and may be intimidated by small children. She may be a little more independent, and may need time to warm up to her new home. Due to the behaviors seen in the care center, we feel that this cat will do best in a calm, quiet home with experienced cat parents and without children.
