She also stated that two allowed handling but the other two would hiss and swat at times. I could not get a detailed profile because she did not socialize the kittens that much.

07/26/2017 BEHAVIOR EVALUATION – EXPNOCHILD
Exam Type BEHAVIOR
KNOWN HISTORY: Iggy was brought in as a stray, so we cannot speak to his behavior in his previous home. MEDICAL BEHAVIOR: Hissing. Afraid of the plastic hand. EVALUATION: Cage Condition: Cage is neat Reaction to assessor: Iggy was crouched in the back of the cage with his tail wrapped around his body. Reaction when softly spoken to: Iggy ears bend slightly and he starts lip licking. Reaction to cage door opening: Iggy remains motionless. Reaction to touch: Iggy’s ears flatten, he grumbles and shifts away quickly when the assessor extended his hand out. He leans away, flinches when touched and tolerates gentle pets on his head and along his body. Reaction to being picked up: Iggy was very tense when picked up then quickly leaped back into the kennel. ACTIVITY LEVEL: Laid back VOCAL: Quiet CHARACTER TYPE: Skittish POTENTIAL CHALLENGES: Fearful – Iggy has displayed fearful behavior during their stay in the care center and may dislike certain types of handling. A fearful cat will feel more relaxed when given options, so provide him with the chance to move closer, investigate, or interact with you. Be sure to offer incentive such as treats or play time whenever the cat makes a small positive step. Please speak to an adoption counselor for additional information on methods to desensitize your cat to their fear stimulus. RECOMMENDATIONS: Experienced, adult home only – Iggy tolerates attention and petting but may be fearful or stressed in the shelter, and may be intimidated by small children. He may be a little more independent, and may need time to warm up to his new home. Due to the behaviors seen in the care center, we feel that this cat will do best in an experienced, adult only home.
