Behavior Condition: 3. Yellow
Upon intake, Holly had dilated pupils and airplane ears. She allowed counselor to pick her up, pet, collar and take picture.
KNOWN HISTORY:: Holly was brought in as a stray, so we don’t have any behavioral history or tendencies in a home environment.
MEDICAL BEHAVIOR:: Observed Behavior -cooperative first then spitting and striking
Cage Condition:: Cage is neat
Reaction to assessor:: Holly remains neutral, crouched down hiding at the back of the cage.
Reaction when softly spoken to:: Holly becomes alert with eyes fully dilated.
Reaction to cage door opening:: Holly remains in place,ears erect and forward.
Reaction to touch:: Holly shows interests at first, leans into the assessor’s hand, rolls over, and purrs, but easily aroused and began to paw and quickly bites the hand. She continues to solicit, but the interaction already had finished.
ACTIVITY LEVEL:: Mellow
VOCAL:: Quiet
CHARACTER TYPE: : Bold,Demanding,Curious
BEHAVIOR DETERMINATION: : Experienced, adult only
Behavior Asilomar: TM – Treatable-Manageable
BEHAVIOR SUMMARY:: Holly tolerates brief petting, but may be assertively demanding of attention and . Initially Holly solicits petting and attention, but after a few soft passes over the body she begins to paws and bites at the assessor. This may be a sign of petting-induced aggression, where repeated physical contact results in discomfort for the cat, or it may be a sign of over stimulation. As a result of this observed behavior we recommend adopters who are familiar with signs of behavioral arousal and agitation in cats, so that interactions can be ended before Holly becomes reactive. Treats should be used to reward appropriate responses to physical attention. Due to pawing and quickly biting the hand we feel that this cat will do best in an adult only home.
