I am a male gray and white domestic sh mix. The shelter thinks I am about 13 WEEKS old.
I came in the shelter as a STRAY on 07/30/2017 from NY 10035, owner surrender reason stated was TNR. I came in with Group/Litter #K17-106097.

Hokey A1120297 is at risk due to URI diagnosis and for behavior. Hokey does not appear to be thriving in the shelter environment and displays fearful behaviors. He becomes stiff and alert when approached, and will focus on the assessor. He does not allow petting at this time and will continuously dodge the person’s hand; attempting to flee when he has the opportunity.

ACTIVITY LEVEL: Steady VOCAL: Quiet CHARACTER TYPE: Skittish ENRICHMENT NOTES: 7/31/17 Anxious, hunched at back under kuranda bed, behind bedding, eyes dilated. Crouched lower when spoken to. Became alert when door opened, fled around cage to avoid touch. 8/1/17 Still very fearful. Slowly exploring cage, eyes dilated, tense posture. Retreated to back on approach, started stress meowing. Became alert when door opened, panicked and fled around cage to avoid touch. EVALUATION: Cage Condition: No change Reaction to assessor: Hokey remains tense, tucked limbs on top of the kuranda bed during the approach. Reaction to cage door opening: Hokey remains stiff, tail tucked close to the body with an intense gaze. Reaction to touch: Hokey dodges the assessor’s hand and runs with tail low into the opposite direction, avoiding contact. BEHAVIOR SUMMARY: Hockey is displaying behaviors that preclude placement in the adoptions room and/or may require further investigation before placement in a home. She is extremely fearful in the shelter environment and does not currently tolerate petting or handling. The behavior department feels that placement with a New Hope Partner is the best option at this time.
