SAFE 12/12/17 HERSHEY’S finder stated there were several stray cats outside in her yard that she was feeding and noticed that 2 of the kittens had a possible URI and decided to bring them to BACC. Please help HERSHEY today.

Finder stated there were several stray cats outside in her yard that she was feeding and noticed that 2 of the kittens had a possible URI and decided to bring them to BACC.

How is this cat around strangers?Kitten is nervous and will try to flee
How is this cat around children?Unknown
How is this cat around other cats?Kitten has been around other stray neighborhood cats and is always relaxed and respectful.
How is this cat around dogs?Unknown
Behavior Notes:Behavior during intake: Animal had a tense body and was hiding in the box during intake. Counselor was able to transfer from box to carrier and take a picture but was unable to collar due to the animal trying to flee.

History : stray
Subjective: BAR, feisty, difficult to restrain, growling, hissing, tries to bite.
Observed Behavior –
Evidence of Cruelty seen – n
Evidence of Trauma seen – n
P = wnl
R = eup
EENT: Eyes shut with dried mucopurulent discharge. Once cleaned and opened, conjunctivitis OU. OS has possible corneal scar on ventromedial aspect of cornea, no fluorescein stain uptake but appeared ulcer suspicious. Ears clear, no nasal discharge noted
Oral Exam: neg oral. No ulcers. Decid dent.
PLN: No enlargements noted
H/L: NSR, NMA, CRT < 2, Lungs clear, eupnic
ABD: Non painful, no masses palpated
MSI: Ambulatory x 4, skin free of parasites, no masses noted, healthy hair coat
CNS: Mentation appropriate – no signs of neurologic abnormalities
Rectal: normal externally
OS corneal scar vs ulcer
– OS fluoroscein stain — negative uptake. Consider repeating
– move to ISO
– start doxycycline 10mg/kg PO SID x 10d
– start terramycin OU BID x 10d
– consider re-staining OS
– vet check day 7 and 10
