KNOWN HISTORY: Hemingway was brought in as a stray, so there is no information on his behavior in his previous home. He allowed most handling, but was a bit hissy when the counselor attempted to remove him from his carrier. Lived Indoors Previously lived with: Adults and children ages 12 and up Behavior toward strangers: Friendly and outgoing Behavior toward children: Gentle and playful Behavior toward cats or dogs: Unknown Bite or Scratch history: None Litter box training: Yes, but has started spraying around the home about a month ago Energy level/descriptors: Mr. Meesh is friendly, affectionate and playful with a medium energy level. Other notes: He loves to play with balls, strings and laser pointers. He’s never had a bath or his nails trimmed but he loves being brushed. He isn’t bothered being picked up and gets a little afraid of the carrier and tenses up when putting him inside. MEDICAL BEHAVIOR: Nervous but allowed all handling EVALUATION: Cage Condition: Cage is slightly re-arranged Reaction to assessor: Hemingway was resting upon approach. Reaction when softly spoken to: Hemingway lifts his head to look at the assessor. He has almond-shaped eyes, but his ears were tilted slightly to the side. Reaction to cage door opening: Hemingway remains motionless. Reaction to touch: Hemingway lowers his head and sniffs the assessor’s hand. He was a bit hesitant of touch, but accepts petting. He appears a bit unsure, but he starts to purr and closes his eyes. Reaction to being picked up: Hemingway was a bit tense during pick up, but remained calm when held. ACTIVITY LEVEL: Moderate VOCAL: Quiet CHARACTER TYPE: Shy, Sweet, Calm BEHAVIOR SUMMARY: Average Please note that Hemingway is being treated for an upper respiratory infection at the time of the behavior assessment. This condition may affect some of the behaviors shown during evaluation. Hemingway interacts with the observer, appreciates attention, is easy to handle and tolerates all petting.
