Hello, my name is Hema. My animal id is #14275. I am a desexed male white cat at the Manhattan Animal Care Center. The shelter thinks I am about 1 years old. – P
I came into the shelter as a owner surrender on 21-Nov-2017, with the surrender reason stated as person health – allergies.

Hema is at risk due to being diagnosed with an Upper Respiratory Infection which is contagious to other cats. Hema will likely require in home care with a course of antibiotics. There are no known behavior concerns for Hema at this time, average determination.

KNOWN HISTORY:: Lived Indoors Previously lived with: 1 adult, 2 toddlers, 2 Dogs (Large and Small Breed) and 4 Cats Behavior toward strangers: Friendly, will approach and sniff Behavior toward children: Calm, did not interact with them much Behavior toward cats: Comfortable with all but one (she was chased away from and hissed at) Behavior toward dogs: Got along, would lay around them Bite or Scratch history: None Litter box training: Yes, uses an uncovered litter box Energy level/descriptors: High Energy, Friendly, Mellow Other notes: Hema is a mellow cat that enjoys playing with balls of string and other cats. He likes to be in the same room as you and sleep on your bed at night.
MEDICAL BEHAVIOR:: Observed Behavior -calm, allows exam
ENRICHMENT NOTES:: Asleep in cubby, woke when door opened. Lay in place, soft eyes and body, still very sleepy. Leaned hard into pets, ate offered treats.

Reaction to assessor:: Hema was resting upon approach.
Reaction when softly spoken to:: Hema does not respond and continues to sleep.
Reaction to cage door opening:: Hema remains motionless, still asleep.
Reaction to touch:: Hema opens his eyes and remains in place while being pet. She allows petting all over, but the end of his tail starts to flick.
Reaction to being picked up:: Hema remains soft and allows pick up.
