Harry’s endearing white whiskers, slightly bewildered expression, and affectionate nature just add to his charm, and with so many happy years ahead of him we’re confident this friendly boy can find a loving forever home! He currently needs follow up medical care for his non weight-bearing right front leg.

Intake condition EXAM REQ Intake Date 03/13/2017, From NY 10301, DueOut Date 03/13/2017, I came in with Group/Litter #K17-090324.
Basic Information:
Harry is a 2 year old male DSH that has no past or current medical issues that the owner is aware of. Owner has had Harry for 2 years but had to surrender due to too many animals in the home.
Socialization:
According to the owner, around strangers Harry is shy for a few minutes at first but once comfortable, he plays gently with adults. He has never been around children or dogs so behavior is unknown. Owner had 49 others cat in the home & stated that Harry was always relaxed and respectful around the other animals and would enjoy playing with the other cats in the home. He has never bit another animal or person while in the care of the owner.
Behavior:
Harry is not bothered by being picked up/held or if someone disturbs her while he is sleeping. He is afraid of being given a bath and will try to run away. Owner has never tried to trim his nails, brush his coat, or put Harry into a carrier so behavior is unknown.
For a New Family to Know:
Harry is described as friendly, affectionate, playful, shy around new people and quiet. He has a high activity level and loves to play with all types of toys. In the home, he liked to follow the owner around from room to room or stay in his favorite spot depending on his mood. Harry was kept mostly indoors only & is litter box trained. In the home, he used an uncovered litter box with clumping litter. Owner did not have a scratching post in the home but did state that Harry would scratch on old furniture in the home. Owner fed Harry dry food only (different brands).
Behavior during intake: Harry had a soft and relaxed body during intake. He allowed counselor to scan for a mc, collar and take a picture without any issues.
MEDICAL:
03/19/17
Recheck exam.
S/O: BARH. mm=pink, moist, CRT<2 s. Eating/drinking well, large amount urine in litterbox.
EENT: No oculonasal discharge, no sneezing.
H/L: Lungs clear, no murmurs/arrhythmias.
ABD: Palpation WNL.
MS/INTEG: Mod soft tissue swelling right front leg, mild lameness. Has developed a 1 cm open, draining wound medial upper right front leg with mild serosanguineous discharge.
A: History of RFL lamenss, swelling/cellulitis; now has a wound associated with area. R/o original site of prior injury, abscess rupture. Mild fever unchanged since yesterday.
P: Continue current therapy.
Clean wound q 24 hours as needed. Monitor cat for overgrooming of the area; for now no e-collar to allow him to have access to double cage.
Good prognosis.

MEDICAL BEHAVIOR:
Relaxed and easy to handle
EVALUATION:
Cage Condition: Cage recently cleaned
Reaction to assessor: Harry was relaxed and lying down on his blanket at the back of the kennel.
Reaction when softly spoken to: Harry keeps his tail at his side, makes eye contact with the assessor and doesn’t get up or come forward when coaxed.
Reaction to cage door opening: Harry remains calm.
Reaction to touch: Harry sniffs the assessor then gently nudges his hand. He leans in for attention, loves cheek rubs and kneads on his blanket. He slowly rises up and comes forward seeking attention.
Reaction to being picked up: Harry was a little tense when picked up but relaxes quickly in the assessor’s arms.
ACTIVITY LEVEL: Mellow
VOCAL: Quiet
CHARACTER TYPE: Calm, Affectionate, Sweet
BEHAVIOR SUMMARY: Average
Harry interacts with the observer, appreciates attention, is easy to handle and tolerates all petting .No known history of behavioral problems. This cat is showing behavior appropriate for new or experienced cat parents.
