SAFE 5/3/17 Owner dumped his 1 year old cat at the shelter after giving him anti-parasitic treatments from Mexico that were not for use on cats! Cat came in with tremors, skin issues – is very friendly and gentle and needs follow up medical and rescue!!

Medical Summary DVM Intake Exam Estimated age: 1yr Microchip noted on Intake? no, not placed d/t health status History : brought in tremoring, tachypneic, given anti parasitic treatments from Mexico (not for use on cats, cannot determine what active ingredients are), washed off skin Subjective: eating well, BAR, good energy Observed Behavior – gentle, BAR, friendly and likes to be pet, allows all handling no aggression Evidence of Cruelty seen – no Evidence of Trauma seen – no Objective T = not taken P = 138 R = 18, purring BCS 5/9 EENT: Eyes clear, ears clean, no nasal discharge noted, no sneezing- mild conjunctivitis approx 3-5% dehydrated Oral Exam: chipped upper R canine, scant tartar PLN: No enlargements noted H/L: NSR, NMA, CRT < 2, Lungs clear, eupnic ABD: Non painful, no masses palpated U/G: FI, grossly normal, no palpable MGTs MSI: Ambulatory x 4, skin free of parasites, no masses noted, around neck moderate erythema and hairloss with red bumps, pre auricular areas- moderate erythema, scabbing and thickened appearances to skin, dorsal lumbar spine, cranial to tail- moderate alopecia, mild scabbing and thickened appearance to skin, no visible ectoparasites. Caudal aspects of FLs fur thinning with moderate erythema and dorsal thoracic area- moderate erythema and fur thinning CNS: mentation appropriate – slightly slow PLR’s OU Rectal: not performed Assessment 1) h/o toxicity- clinically resolved 2) skin: r/o skin infection secondary to FAD, exacerbated d/t inappropriate application of antiparasitic, mites, other 3) chipped R maxillary canine 4) mild conjunctivitis- r/o secondary to irritation from topical treatments causing toxicity, infectious, other Plan schedule skin scrape to check for mites, LRS 75ml once simplicef 100mg: 1/4T PO SID x10days tresaderm few drops on skin in front of ears BID x7 alerted NH of p will give FVRCP, dewormer, SNAP FeLV/FIV; hold off until tomorow for Rabies vxn, given recent neuro signs consider soothing shampoos, low dose steroids, flea preventative, hypoallergenic diet consider MC placement when skin improved Prognosis: good SURGERY: Temporary waiver due to recent toxicity and skin issues
