02/21/17 17:42 Solo came in with Han together and profile was done for both cats. Owner is surrendering both cats due to no time and moving out of state where they do not allow cats in the home. Around strangers, they are shy for a few minutes and need time to warm up. They have not been around children or dogs so behavior is unknown. They are respectful with eachother but can get into altercations once in a while. There is no bite history with a person or animal behavior There are no behavior issues owner is concerned about. there are no litterbox issues. 02/26/2017 BEHAVIOR EVALUATION – EXPNOCHILD
Exam Type BEHAVIOR
KNOWN HISTORY: Lived indoors Previously lived with: An adult and another cat Behavior toward children: Unknown Behavior toward strangers: Shy, will need time to warm up to them Behavior toward cats: Respectful with the cat he lived with, occasionally getting into altercations Behavior toward dogs: Unknown Bite history: None Litter box training: Yes, uses an uncovered box with clumping litter Energy level/descriptors: Mellow and quiet with low activity level. Other notes: He isn’t bothered by picking up and holding. ENRICHMENT NOTES: 2/22/17 Laying down at the back of the cage, stiff posture, whiskers forward. Leaned away from touch. 2/23/17 Hunched in litter box, stiff posture, eyes dilated. Flinched and hunched lower when touched, and closed eyes. EVALUATION: Cage Condition: Cage is neat Reaction to assessor: Han was lying down with his paws tucked under his body, calm and relaxed. Reaction when softly spoken to: Han squints his eyes and tilts his ears sideways, blinking slowly. Reaction to cage door opening: Han becomes alert, but remains motionless. Reaction to touch: Han was hesitant of contact and shifts away from the assessor’s hand. He accepts petting with a slow approach, looking around and lip licking. His ears are still tilted, but he tolerates attention and appeared unsure. ACTIVITY LEVEL: Mellow VOCAL: Quiet CHARACTER TYPE: Shy, Calm POTENTIAL CHALLENGES: _x_ Fearful – Han has displayed fearful behavior during their stay in the care center. A fearful cat will feel more relaxed when given options, so provide him with the chance to move closer, investigate, or interact with you. Be sure to offer incentive such as treats or play time whenever the cat makes a small positive step. Please speak to an adoption counselor for additional information on methods to desensitize your cat to their fear stimulus. RECOMMENDATIONS: _x_ Experienced, adult home only – Han tolerates attention and petting but may be fearful or stressed in the shelter, and may be intimidated by small children. Due to the behaviors seen in the care center, we feel that this cat will do best in an experienced, adult only home who understands this cat may need time to warm up to his new home and family at his own pace.
