He is normally following his owner around and she says he destroys any toys he gets. Gunny was fed Fancy Feast both wet and dry food. 02/26/16 16:20 Gunny was brought in as an owner’s surrender due to owner being ill. Owner has had Gunny since 2012 after receiving him from the previous adopter. Owner says Gunny does not have any injuries or health concerns. Socialization & Behavior Gunny is described as being affectionate and outgoing when in the presence of strangers. Owner says there have been no past issues of Gunny biting anyone or another animal, and Gunny’s behavior around other animals is unknown. Gunny is said to be relaxed during car rides, and remains relaxed. Owner says Gunny is unbothered with baths and will deal with it. Gunny gets his nail trims at the vet and owner says he was struggling but calmed once she came into the room. Gunny is said to be unbothered when held, but will then attempt to get down after a moment. For a New Family to Know Gunny is described as affectionate, playful, and confident with a medium activity level. He is normally following his owner around and she says he destroys any toys he gets. Gunny was fed Fancy Feast both wet and dry food. Owner says he is perfect with the litter-box and never has accidents. Due to not having a scratching post Gunny scratched on owner’s door. Behavior during Intake Gunny was scared during intake. He attempted to hide in owner’s carrier, and attempted to crawl off of counter when being photo’d. Gunny allowed all handling to be conducted and showed no signs of aggression during intake.

03/01/2016 BEHAVIOR EVALUATION – NH ONLY
Exam Type BEHAVIOR
Gunny’s former owner described him as being affectionate and outgoing when in the presence of strangers. Also, stated he is being playful and confident with a medium activity level. Reaction to assessor: Gunny looks neutral in his cage when approached by the assessor. Reaction to door opening: Gunny remains crouched position on his cage bedding, alert with eyes wide open. Reaction to touch: Gunny does not allow the stroke, slowly sniffs the assessor’s hand then began to lip lick in place, while he growls and attempts to swat. Placement determination: NH ONLY Gunny is displaying behaviors that preclude placement in the adoptions room. He is extremely fearful in the shelter environment and does not currently tolerate petting. The behavior department feels that placement with a New Hope Partner is the best option at this time.
