11/23/16 18:34 Animal’s appearance – Cat appeared mostly clean and of healthy weight. Animal’s demeanor with you – Cat allowed handling. Client stated she found this cat and 7 others in a box on her front stoop. She cannot take care of these cats and does not know who dropped these cats off at her doorstep or why. She had a friend help her bring the box into his car and brought them over to SIACC asap.

Gravy came to the shelter as a stray, so we don’t have any behavioral history or tendencies in a home environment. Upon intake, Gravy allowed all handling. Reaction to assessor: Gravy approaches the front of the cage. Reaction when softly spoken to: Gravy meows. Reaction to cage door opening: Gravy remains soft and relaxed. Reaction to touch: Gravy leans into petting and begins to purr, allows petting all over body. Reaction to pick up: Gravy continues purring and kneads on assessor’s arms. Placement Determination: Beginner Gravy approaches the assessor, solicits petting and attention and allows all handling. Gravy is exhibiting behavior suited to beginning cat parents. Please note that Gravy is being treated for an upper-respiratory infection at the time of the assessment, and that this may affect the behaviors shown.
