Hello, my name is Giubba. My animal id is #14644. I am a desexed male black cat at the Manhattan Animal Care Center. The shelter thinks I am about 1 years 1 weeks old. – P
I came into the shelter as a stray on 26-Nov-2017.
Giubba is at risk due to being diagnosed with an Upper Respiratory Infection which is contagious to other cats. Giubba will likely require in home care with a course of antibiotics. There are no known behavior concerns for Giubba at this time, average determination.

History : stray- client surrender Subjective: BAR Observed Behavior – allowed exam but hissing Evidence of Cruelty seen – N Evidence of Trauma seen – N Objective T = DNP P = WNL R = WNL BCS 5/9 EENT: Eyes clear, ears clean, no nasal or ocular discharge noted Oral Exam: clean adult dentition PLN: No enlargements noted H/L: NSR, NMA, CRT < 2, lungs clear, eupnic ABD: Non painful, no masses palpated U/G: Neutered male MSI: Ambulatory x 4, skin free of parasites, no masses noted, healthy hair coat CNS: Mentation appropriate – no signs of neurologic abnormalities Rectal: DNP Assessment: apparently healthy young adult neutered male cat Prognosis: excellent Plan: ok for placement. SURGERY: Permanent waiver due to already neutered.
Notes entered for 1088. Hx- reported sneezing around 10am today. S/O- still sneezing this afternoon. A- URI P- move to iso, start doxycycline 0.9mL PO SID for 10 days.

During intake while Giubba allowed all handling and being collared it appeared that Giubba was stressed, attentive and alert. Giubba allowed being picked up and being pet but was observant of the surroundings around him.

Basic Information:: Giubba was found as a stray in a cardboard box with another cat and was brought in the center for surrender. The founder housed the cat for two weeks before surrendering. Guibba is a DSH, black and white cat.

How is this cat around other cats?: Giubba was also with the cat that was with him in the cardboard box. The founder described them both being relaxed, affectionate, respectful and tolerant.

For a New Family to Know: Giubba is described as friendly,affectionate, playful, mellow, confident, assertive, independent, and talkative. He is known to have a low to medium activity level. Giubba enjoys wrestling and running around with the other cat that was found with Giubba. When the founder was home Giubba tended to just be in the smae room. Giubba enjoys playing with balls and wand toys, Giubba also enjoys using horizontal cardboard scratching posts. Giubba has been kept as an indoor cat only while staying with the founder. Giubba enjoys sleeping on the couch at the end of the night. Giubba has been eating both wet and dry food from Friskies, about a quarter of a can and half a cup of hard food twice a day. Giubba is litter boxed trained and uses an covered box using feline pine litter.

ENRICHMENT NOTES:: 11/27/17 Resting in cubby, eyes dilated, looking around. Became alert when door opened, minor lip licking. Lay in place, ate treats from my hand, completely ignored me while eating. Leaned into pets and purred when done. Peeked out at main compartment, but wouldn’t be coaxed out. Sprayed thunderease. 11/28/17 Resting on shelf, eyes dilated, body a little tense. Lay in place when door opened. Allowed and slightly leaned into pets, then became distracted by treats. Wet into cubby after door closed.

Reaction to being picked up:: He briefly allows the pickup then jumps back into the cage.
