04/11/2017 BEHAVIOR EVALUATION – EXPNOCHILD
Exam Type BEHAVIOR
KNOWN HISTORY: Ginger was brought into the care center with unknown history. MEDICAL BEHAVIOR: Observed Behavior – fractious – hissing and growling during exam EVALUATION: Cage Condition: No change Reaction to assessor: Ginger looks tense, hissing when approached by the front. Reaction when softly spoken to: Ginger grumbles in place. Reaction to cage door opening: Ginger hisses and slowly retreats to the back of the cage. Reaction to touch: Ginger seems curious and slowly sniffed the assessor’s hand. While she accepts the stroke she began to lean into the petting, but remains cautious with sudden movement. ACTIVITY LEVEL: Laid back VOCAL: Quiet CHARACTER TYPE: Bold, Shy, Independent RECOMMENDATIONS: – Experienced, adult home only Ginger tolerates attention and petting but may be fearful or stressed in the shelter, and may be intimidated by small children. She may be a little more independent, and may need time to warm up to her new home. Due to the behaviors seen in the care center, we feel that this cat will do best in an experienced, adult only home who understands this cat may need time to warm up to her new home and family at her own pace.
