Hello, my name is Ginger . My animal id is #11734. I am a desexed female black cat at the Brooklyn Animal Care Center. The shelter thinks I am about 3 years old. – P
I came into the shelter as a stray on 04-Nov-2017.
Ginger is at risk due to being diagnosed with an Upper Respiratory Infection and will likely require home rest and a series of antibiotics for up to 14 days. This is a contagious illness to other cats. This cat is showing behavior appropriate cat parents with an average amount of experience.

DVM Intake Exam Estimated age: ~2-3 years Microchip noted on Intake? negative History : stray Subjective: QARH. Has not eaten any of the food left in the cage but also seems a little nervous. Observed Behavior – very sweet. Easily handleable. Did well for all medical handling and procedures Evidence of Cruelty seen – no Evidence of Trauma seen – no Objective P = wnl R = eupneic BCS 6/9 EENT: Eyes clear, ears clean with left ear tip, no nasal discharge noted Oral Exam: clean adult dentition, no oral lesions noted PLN: No enlargements noted H/L: NSR, NMA, CRT < 2, Lungs clear, eupneic ABD: Non painful, no masses palpated U/G: FS (left ear tip), no MGTs, no vulvar d/c MSI: Ambulatory x 4, skin free of parasites, no masses noted, healthy hair coat CNS: mentation appropriate – no signs of neurologic abnormalities Assessment: FIV + Plan: Continue to monitor while at BACC Recheck appetite in 2 days-if still not eating consider LRS, cerenia, and mirtazapine Prognosis: good SURGERY: spayed
New CIRDC noted on rounds Subjective: QAR. No c/s/v/d. Has not eaten morning meal. Objective EENT: serous nasal d/c bilaterally, mild serous ocular d/c ou H/L: sneezing, eupneic Assessment: URI FIV+ Plan: Start doxycycline 10mg/kg PO SID x10d until 11/16 give LRS 20ml/kg SQ once Give cerenia 1mg/kg SQ once Recheck at day 7, 10 Move to iso Prognosis: Good

Basic Information:: Ginger is a black female domestic short hair.
How is this cat around strangers?: Ginger is described as shy at first and after a few minutes will allow handling. Finder stated she loves to cuddle.
How is this cat around other cats?: Ginger was found with Marilyn. Finder stated the cats would eat and sleep together.
For a New Family to Know: Upon intake Ginger was relaxed and counselor was able to collar, scan (negative) and photograph.
KNOWN HISTORY:: Ginger was brought in as a stray, so we cannot speak to her behavior in her previous home
MEDICAL BEHAVIOR:: Very sweet. Easily handle able. Did well for all medical handling and procedures
Cage Condition:: Cage is neat
Reaction to assessor:: Ginger was lying down on her kuranda bed at the back of the kennel.
Reaction when softly spoken to:: Ginger turns towards the assessor and slow blinks.
Reaction to cage door opening:: Ginger remains calm.
Reaction to touch:: Ginger sniffs the assessor’s hand then leans in, allowing petting and rubs all over. She perks up when pet along her back, gives head butts and slowly approaches the front of the kennel.
Reaction to being picked up:: Ginger is calm, relaxed and started to knead in the assessor’s arm.
