GIN – A1064329
Safe - 2-8-2016 Brooklyn Rescue: Staten Island Hope Please honor your pledges: http://www.statenislandhoperescue.org/
**SAFE 02/08/16** PAT and GIN are two of three cats who were brought to the ACC by a hoarder. It’s not common for hoarders to willingly give up their pets, and one hopes that tonight can be the beginning of good things for both cats. PAT is a neutered 4-year-old male, GIN is a spayed 12-month-old girl, and both cats are a little tense at the shelter. No matter how bad things were where they came from, it was still home sweet home to these lovelies and they must be missing that situation very much. Please help PAT and GIN put all that in their rear view mirrors by finding FOSTERS and ADOPTERS for both cats, tonight!
My name is GIN. My Animal ID # is A1064329. – P

02/06/2016 BEHAVIOR EVALUATION – EXPNOCHILD
Exam Type BEHAVIOR
Our enrichment facilitator has interacted with Gin and at the time he was immobile sitting in the corner. Eyes wide, focused on all movements. No reaction when touched. Tense, tail under body. Reaction to assessor: Gin does not come to front but remains neutral When spoken quietly: Gin does not come to front but remains neutral Reaction to door cage opening: Gin hisses and retreats Reaction to touch: Gin tries to avoid touch Try picking cat up: Did not attempt Behavior Determination: Experience No Child At the time of the assessment Gin was displaying fearful behavior; does not seek attention from the assessor and becomes alert when the kennel was open. Retreats as I started to get closer. I was able to pet her and interact with her in a limited way while she hissed. We recommend that this cat go to a home with experienced cat parents with no children. 02/07 Update: While Gin allows brief touch and petting, she does not appear to be thriving in the shelter environment. She hisses upon approach, and is very uncomfortable when interacted with; shifting away and attempting to avoid contact. We feel that it is in Gin’s best interest to move into a stable home environment as quickly as possible.
