**SAFE 04/24/16** TWO BEAUTIES HOPING TO ESCAPE THE SAME SAD FATE…..GAYA and GENNI were brought to the ACC together on April 9th, but their ACC experiences have been very different to one another. GAYA is a male, estimated to be about 5 years of age, and he earned really nice volunteer comments. Please work hard to make sure that both he and GENNI are able to escape the cruel ending the ACC have arranged for them both, tomorrow, by advocating strongly for them tonight. VOLUNTEER COMMENTS FOR GAYA: “A volunteer writes: Gaya is a little shy and scared right now, but once he trusts you, you will see he really is a nice cat. He enjoys your attention, closing his eyes with your gentle touch, petting him softly to show him he is loved. He would look up at you with his sweet eyes, appreciating your affection. He needs a home with someone who will understand that he needs time to adjust and go slow with him. I’m time, he will grow into a nice companion. Another volunteer writes: Gaya is a nice tuxedo cat who is all dressed up and waiting for someone to come and pick him up and take him out to the big dance. He’s a bit shy, though, so he doesn’t have a date. Anyone who would like a nice, feline companion should come to get to know Gaya. He can be coaxed out of the corner by speaking to him softly and extending him a hand. But you need to proceed slowly, on Gaya’s terms. Oh, and if you decide to come in, make sure to wear your party clothes, too, in case you find that Gaya is the date for you!”

04/13/2016 BEHAVIOR EVALUATION – EXPERIENCE
Exam Type BEHAVIOR
Our enrichment facilitator has interacted with Gaya and at the time he was at the back of the cage. Gaya meows softly as you approach with wide eyes. Gaya tolerates petting. Reaction to assessor: Gaya does not come to front but remains neutral When spoken quietly: Gaya does not come to front but remains neutral Reaction to door cage opening: Gaya remains motionless Reaction to touch: Gaya was tense but allows petting with a slow approach Try picking cat up: Gaya is tolerant of this type of handling but tense. Behavior Determination: Experience At the time of the assessment Gaya was displaying timid behavior; does not seek attention from the assessor and becomes alert when the kennel was open. Remains motionless as I started to get closer. I was able to pet him and interact with him in a limited way. I was also able to pick him up and although he was tense no fractious behavior was display. We recommend that this cat go to a home with experienced cat parents.
