“Standing in front of kennel, body relaxed and ears forward. Pushes nose through kennel door as I pass by and vocalizes loudly. Reaches out towards me with soft paws. He remains calm as the kennel door opens and allows petting along his head and body while leaning in and raising his tail. Stands up on hind legs and places his paws on my stomach. Curious – wants to explore the room behind me.”

Gato was described as friendly and affectionate. Something unique that Gato does is he likes to play fetch with his mouse toy and he is trained to wait for his food. when giving him his food is you say wait in Spanish he will wait and then go in Spanish to get his food. When home with Gato he likes to be in the same room as you. Gato is an indoor cat but likes to go outside in the yard once a month for an hour. Previous owner also would walk Gato on a leash every couple of months. Gato is litter box trained and uses an uncovered litter box with clumping litter. If the litter box is not clean out daily Gato will go to the bathroom outside the litter box. Gato eats Royal canin Urinary wet and dry food. Gato has a rope/carpet scratching post and doesnt scratch on anything else in the house.
Behavior Notes:
During intake Gato was on his leash with the owner. Gato came up to the counselor and allowed to be pet on the head and back. Gato allowed to be collared and scanned with no problem. Gato would push his head into the counselors hands.
