Medical Behavior Evaluation GREEN
Medical Summary Sex: Female (I suspect but am not 100% positive due to mats) Scan: Negative Estimated age: 3 years old Fleas: No flea dirt. Hx: Found sitting in a puddle of diarrhea. S: Gentle, allows all handling. Yowled and tried to kick when perianal region was shaved, but no signs of aggression even then. O: BAR-H, BCS 2/9, MMs pink and moist EENT: Moderate brown waxy debris AU. Mild serous ocular discharge OU. Mild serous discharge from nose. Clean teeth. PLNs: Not palpable under mats H/L: NSR, NMA. Eupnic, quiet lung sounds. Abd: Soft, no pain on palpation, no masses palpated M/S/I: Amb x4. Heavily matted over entire body; mats very close to skin and forming a thick pelt in some regions. Cannot see nails on feet due to matting. One large mat coated in soft stool covering the anus. UG: Female? Did not examine closely due to patient discomfort. More thorough grooming will be required and will likely require sedation, so the sex of the patient can be confirmed then. Shaved mat off anus and perianal region – underlying skin is heavily folded and erythematous. Cleaned with chlorhexidine scrub and coated with SSD. Parvo test: NEGATIVE A: 1. Severely matted 2. Ear discharge, likely otitis externa, possibly due to ear mites due to feline predisposition although this discharge is not dry or granular 3. Underweight 4. Diarrhea 5. URI 6. Diarrhea – R/O parasites vs. dietary indiscretion vs. other Short-term prognosis: Good, once groomed P: 1. Gave 1.1 ml pyrantel during exam. Did not give Activyl because heavy grooming will be needed and Activyl should be given after grooming, not before. 2. Schedule pt for grooming and ear cleaning 3. Start doxycycline 1 ml PO SID x10 days 4. After grooming, retake photo, give Activyl, schedule for vet exam to determine if dermatitis needs treatment 5. Keep in Medical for short-term observation 6. Monitor for further diarrhea 1088
