MANHATTAN CENTER
Hello, my name is Gabrielle. My animal id is #7915. I am a female calico cat at the Cat Holding Room. The shelter thinks i am about 6 months old.
I came into the shelter as a data import – incoming on 01-Oct-2017.
Let’s get to know each other a bit more…
10/3/17- Behavior: NH ONLY
Gabrielle is at-risk with a NHO determination. Her previous owner reports she is fearful around strangers and she does not appear to be thriving in the stressful shelter environment. She becomes stiff and alert when approached for interaction and hisses when softly spoken to. She starts to growl and display distance-increasing behavior to avoid any contact or touch.
Details on my behavior are…
10/3/17-Behavior: NH ONLY
Basic Information: Gabrielle is a female, 6 month old, domestic shorthair cat. She was born at home and unfortunately had to be surrendered because she did not have time. Gabrielle has never been to the vet and previous owner is unaware of any health issues.
Socialization: Gabrielle is fearful around strangers and will hide for days if someone is over. Gabrielle has never been around children or dogs. She’s lived with her mother cat and her litter mates, Rover A1126990 and Sabrina A1126989. They are relaxed and playful together. She has never bitten another animal or human.
Behavior: Gabrielle will hide in fear and will keep her distance from people. While riding in a car she is relaxed and quiet. Previous owner has never given Gabrielle a bath, trimmed her nails, or brushed her coat. Gabrielle is scared when previous owner tried to pick her up and will try to flee from owner. She would not allow previous owner to get near her. She will struggle when trying to be put her into a carrier as well. Previous owner never disturbed her while she was sleeping.
For a new family to know: Gabrielle is a shy, fearful, independent, quiet cat. She has a medium activity level and loves to sit on the windowsill and look outside. When previous owner is home she will rarely seek attention and likes to play with string toys. She is indoors only and sleeps in the living room on her bed with her littermates. Gabrielle eats hard food and has it in a big bowl available to her all day. She is litter boxed trained and had an uncovered litter box with clumping litter. She used the Arm and Hammer brand. She never used a scratching post.
Upon intake, Gabrielle was hissing, spitting, and swatting. Did not allow handling
