*** GONE 09/13/16 *** A SECOND CHANCE FOR A YOUNG BEGINNER EBONY LADY MILA WHOSE RESCUE FELL THROUGH….. AND NOW THEY HAVE ALSO ADDED 3 OF HER PALS TO TONIGHT’S LIST!! Beginner MILA came into the shelter with a larger group of kitties. THe ACC mentions that she had kittens but no other info was given to where they are now. Tonight, GABRIEL, ROSIE AND LOU have been added to this group of house panthers that they want to kill at NOON tomorrow……ROSIE AND LOU ARE AVERAGE RATED SWEETIES. LOU got a great review from someone who met him. A volunteer writes: On a busy Saturday afternoon at the Manhattan Center, I saw a very sweet looking boy kind of shyly watching me from the corner of his condo. I went over to him, and got the feeling all the noise and action at the Center was just a little overwhelming for him. I had a little talk with him, and then started to pet him. He quickly relaxed, started to purr, and seemed to really enjoy my company. I told him I really enjoyed his company as well and it felt really nice. He was very gentle and sweet, although he came to us as a stray, you’d never guess after spending just a few minutes with him. He is all ready to be some lucky human’s treasured feline friend. GABRIEL was a bit more tense and upset about being in the shelter and was punished with an EXPNOCHILD rating. ALL THESE CATS NEED RESCUE NOW – AND ONLY YOU CAN HELP THEM LIVE AND HAVE A HAPPY ENDING TO THEIR STORY. PLEASE OFFER TO ADOPT ONE OR MORE OF THESE KITTIES AND GIVE THEM A CHANCE. EMAIL [email protected] FOR RESCUE INFO NOW!!

Exam Type BEHAVIOR
Gabriel was brought in as a stray, so we cannot speak to his behavior in his previous home. His finder reports he was found inside a building with 13 other cats. The finder was able to place him inside a carrier and bring him to the care center. He allowed handling upon intake and during his initial medical exam, although he was a little tense. Reaction to assessor: Gabriel was lying down, calm and relaxed. Reaction when softly spoken to: Gabriel becomes alert and looks at the assessor with ears tilted sideways. Reaction to cage door opening: Gabriel becomes tense and looks at the assessor. Reaction to touch: Gabriel shifts away and attempts to avoid contact. He lifts his paw when petting was attempted and gently pats the assessor’s hand multiple times without nails to avoid petting. He lip licks and blinks softly afterwards. Behavior Determination: Experienced, No Children Gabriel tolerates brief attention and petting but may be fearful or stressed in the shelter, and may be intimidated by small children. He may need time to warm up to his new home. Due to the behaviors seen in the care center, we feel that this cat will do best in a calm, quiet home with experienced cat parents and without children.
