I came into the shelter as a owner surrender on 20-Nov-2017, with the surrender reason stated as person circumstance- landlord won’t allow.

Gabby is at risk for medical reasons. Gabby has contract Upper Respiratory Infection which is contagious to other cats. Behaviorally, Gabby has been assessed as being suitable for most homes.

During intake Gabby allowed all handling and was friendly, accepted being petted and purred. Did not mind being picked up and held and did not want to let go once held.

Basic Information:: Gabby is a brown tabby with white fur. He is six months old and a domestic short haired cat.
How is this cat around strangers?: Gabby around strangers is friendly and outgoing. A relaxed cat that enjoys the company of anyone. Gabby is gentle with both kids and adults.
How is this cat around children?: Gabby has been around kids ranging from 3-16. He is relaxed, affectionate, respectful, and tolerant.
How is this cat around other cats?: Gabby lived with one other cat that was 5 months old. While they played exuberantly and he was playful and tolerant. He only had one fight but after engaging he ran away to avoid the cat.
How is this cat around dogs?: Gabby has never been around another dog.
Behavior Notes: Gabby tends to scratch and knead carpet and rugs. He enjoys car rides and is relaxed or ends up sleeping. Gabby does not have litter box issues and is described as friendly, affectionate, playful, mellow, and aloof at times. Gabby is also not bothered by nail trims, or cat baths as long as his head does not get wet and there is a towel underneath him while receiving the bath. Gabby tolerates getting his coat brushed as long as it is soft bristled brush. Gabby isn’t bothered getting picked up, placed in carriers, or being disturbed when sleeping or resting.
Bite history:: Gabby has never bitten or scratched anyone nor has received any bites or scratches that broke skin.

Medical Notes: When Gabby was around 3 months old he was taken to receive veterinary care due to a reaction to the litter being used. He received a ointment for the eye, that was applied twice a day for one week and has not had any other issue since.
For a New Family to Know: Gabby is described as friendly, affectionate, playful, mellow, aloof, and sleeps a lot. He enjoys kneading and scratching on rugs or carpets and enjoys sitting on window sills to look. Gabby also enjoys balls that make noises when they roll and strings. Gabby has been a indoor cat since birth and sleeps primarily on beds and sofas. Gabby eats 1 cup of dry food twice a day and the brand was Cat Chow. Gabby is also littered trained and used a hooded litter box with Fresh-step Litter or Tidy Cats litter.

MEDICAL BEHAVIOR:: Observed Behavior -purring tail up
ENRICHMENT NOTES:: Dozing on bedding, stood and came to the front when door opened, soft eyes and body. Leaned and arched into pets, purred, ate offered treats. Rubbed against bars and meowed softly when door closed. Ideal event cat.

Reaction to assessor:: Gabby was calm, relaxed, and friendly by the front.
Reaction when softly spoken to:: Gabby meows softly and lies down, looking at the assessor with soft eyes.
Reaction to cage door opening:: Gabby remains soft and relaxed.
Reaction to touch:: Gabby sniffs the assessor’s hand and was a bit hesitant of touch, but he arches his body once touched and leans in for petting. His tail begins to quiver.
Reaction to being picked up:: Gabby remains calm, but leaps back into the kennel when he wants to be placed back down.
