Hello, my name is Frisco. My animal id is #18034. I am a male orange tabby cat at the Manhattan Animal Care Center. The shelter thinks I am about 4 years old. – P
I came into the shelter as a stray on 10-Jan-2018.
Original Location: 10032
Frisco is at risk due to behavior, Adult Only determination. Frisco is stressed in care center and will not allow most handling, hissing and showing distance increasing behaviors. There are no medical concerns for Frisco at this time.

Frisco was very loose bodied and was rolling into head scratches. He was purring loudly and and laying flat on the floor. When i picked him up he stiffed up and hissed at me. It took a few minutes for him to relax and he stretched out again and began to purr.

KNOWN HISTORY:: Frisco was brought in as a stray, so we don’t have any behavioral history or tendencies in a home environment. Upon intake Frisco was very loose bodied and was rolling into head scratches. He was purring loudly and and laying flat on the floor. When i picked him up he stiffed up and hissed at me. It took a few minutes for him to relax and he stretched out again and began to purr.
MEDICAL BEHAVIOR:: 1/11 Observed Behavior: hissing and swatting in carrier
Cage Condition:: No change
Reaction to assessor:: Frisco remains tense, crouched position with head down at the back of the cage during the approach.
Reaction when softly spoken to:: Frisco becomes alert with eyes fully dilated, body tightly curled up in place.
Reaction to cage door opening:: Frisco growls and hisses with an intense stare and ears turned sideways.
Reaction to touch:: Frisco remains cautious, but slowly approaches to sniff the assessor’s hand then growls while he increases distance with back arched and fur erect. He then allows the touch on the head with a slow approach, but remains stiff in place with no interest.
