SAFE 2/6/18 FRAGGLE Rocks Out With Purrs & Head Butts! Friendly 1-Year Old With LARGE WOUND NEEDS YOU! Fraggle came in as a stray and appears to have a wound on his leg. That doesn’t stop him from purring or eating well. He will need a little more TLC.

He perks up and comes forward immediately when I approach the kennel. Reaches out with paws and rubs against the door. Purrs, head butts and allows all handling. Doesn’t mind being held. He leaped out the cage and dove into my bag when he smelt the treats. Social and friendly.

During intake Fraggle allowed the counselor to pick him up but he began to his when getting his picture he started to hiss.

History :stray intake 2/2-gave simbadol and convenia. Applied TAB ointment to large wound on left flank.
2/3-started pradofloxacin and SQ LRS.
Subjective: BARH. Had collar stuck in mouth this morning-was cut off but had mild abrasion on corners of mouth from collar. Wound has purulent d/c. No csvd. NPO overnight. Empty litter box. Appears comfortable.

Oral Exam: clean adult dentition, no oral lesions, mild abrasions on corners of mouth from collar
PLN: No enlargements noted

ABD: Non painful, no masses palpated
U/G: MI
MSI: Ambulatory x 4, skin free of parasites, no masses noted, healthy hair coat, large ~4cm full thickness linear wounds on left flank-mild serous d/c
CNS: Mentation appropriate – no signs of neurologic abnormalities
Assessment:
Large wound left flank
Mild abrasions on corners of mouth from collar being stuck in mouth
Prognosis:good
Plan:
Extend simbadol 0.24mg/kg SQ SID until 2/8
Add onsior 2mg/kg SQ SID x3d until 2/7
Last day of LRS SQ
Continue pradofloxacin until 2/9
Wound treatment and neuter (see surgery report)

INTEG: ~2-3cm deep wound cranial to left hip, appears infected, foul odor, small amount of purulent discharge; no other wounds noted, full healthy coat

A: ~1yo M DSH, mild dehydration, deep wound, appears 1-2 weeks old
P: Adding pradofloxacin 1ml PO q24 x 7 days and LRS 100ml SQ q24 x 3 days. Sedated wound treatment indicated – will likely need drain
