She is not aware of any injuries or health problems that she may have. Around strangers, Flash is shy and avoids contact with them since the owner does not have company over often. She is use to only seeing the owner. She has not lived with any dogs or children. Flash has lived with 6 other cats and were relaxed around each other. Although sometimes Flash will swat at times when the other cats approach the food or litter box, but has never have bitten any animal or person. According to owner. Flash has never ridden in a car before. She has tried to bathe them before and she was afraid and struggled a lot. She has never trimmed her nails or brushed her out. She tends to like a bit of handling. She was never placed in a carrier. Flash is described as a shy, independent, and mellow cat with a medium activity level. Her favorite thing to do is walk around the house and sleep. She rarely seeks attention when the owner arrives home. She does not have any toys and is kept indoors only. Flash sleeps in a room with the 6 other cats. She was fed Alley Cats dry food morning and night. She may be having litter box accidents but the owner is unsure due to having 7 cats with only 2 litter boxes. She states she has never seen the poop or pee out of the box and usually just cleans it. Both litter boxes were hooded and she used clumping clay litter. Flash was allowed to scratch a wooden threshold in the kitchen and was not given a scratching post.

Reaction to touch: Flash flinches slightly when touched and slowly turns her head away from the assessor. She tolerates petting, seems uncomfortable and breathes more rapidly when touched along her body. She stays crouched and focused on the assessor’s hand then slowly shifts away when she’s had enough attention. ACTIVITY LEVEL: Laid back VOCAL: Quiet CHARACTER TYPE: Timid POTENTIAL CHALLENGES: Fearful – Flash has displayed fearful behavior during their stay in the care center and may dislike certain types of handling. A fearful cat will feel more relaxed when given options, so provide her with the chance to move closer, investigate, or interact with you. Be sure to offer incentive such as treats or play time whenever the cat makes a small positive step. Please speak to an adoption counselor for additional information on methods to desensitize your cat to their fear stimulus. RECOMMENDATIONS: Experienced, adult home only – Flash tolerates attention and petting but may be fearful or stressed in the shelter, and may be intimidated by small children. She may be a little more independent, and may need time to warm up to her new home. Due to the behaviors seen in the care center, we feel that this cat will do best in an experienced, adult only home.
