Exam Type BEHAVIOR
As per previous owner, Finiyin is friendly and outgoing around strangers but can be shy for a few minutes. He’s never been around children and he plays gently with adults. Finiyin lived with 4 other cats and has been in altercations with the other cats by swatting, growling, and hissing. He isn’t bothered when held or being picked up and is afraid of being put inside a carrier. His owner describes his as shy, friendly, playful and confident with a low activity level. He was kept mostly indoors and likes to play with balls, string, stuffed toys and catnip toys. Reaction to assessor: Finiyin was curled up tight in his litter box with wide eyes focused on the assessor. Reaction when softly spoken to: Finiyin lip licks then looks around wary of his surroundings. Reaction to cage door opening: Finiyin lip licks and remains motionless. Reaction to touch: Finiyin arches his back and slowly leans away when the assessor extends his hand out. His eyes are fixated on the assessor’s hand and he becomes immobile when touched. Finiyin feels uncomfortable when touched, has a tense body and slowly inches forward trying to leave the kennel. Behavior Determination: Experience No Children Finiyin tolerates attention and petting but may be fearful or stressed in the shelter, and may be intimidated by small children. He may be a little more independent, and may need time to warm up to his new home. Due to the behaviors seen in the care center, we feel that this cat will do best in a calm, quiet home with experienced cat parents and without children.
